With Rock Band 3 upon us, the specifics of exporting your Rock Band 2 setlist into RB3 have become clear.  The one-time export will cost $9.99, should weigh in just shy of 2GB and will include 70 songs. The five notable songs that won’t make the trek:
- AC/DC: Let There Be Rock
- Journey: Any Way You Want It
- Metallica: Battery
- Red Hot Chili Peppers: Give It Away
- Soundgarden: Spoonman
The other nine songs were from the family of Harmonix bands (Anarchy Club, Breaking Wheel, Speck, etc), and will be released down the road as part of a free DLC pack.
Because of their recent inclusion in the Guitar Hero franchise, it’s not hard to figure out why the Metallica and Soundgarden songs weren’t re-licensed. The Red Hot Chili Peppers omission is an odd one, since the entirety of Blood Sugar Sex Magik was released as full album DLC for the Rock Band games back in 2008. I guess we’ll have to be satisfied being one song short.
As for Journey, dare we hope that maybe we’ll see a Greatest Hits DLC release someday? If ever there was a band that would be a perfect fit for the new keyboard controller, they’re it.
